for a simple coding experience i would download VSCODE and a lua intellisense extension, i use vscode-lua https://marketplace.visualstudio.com/items?itemName=trixnz.vscode-lua

Lua 5.2 is what is used for the game with all unsafe OS functionality blocked

To add the lua.json code snippets to VSCODE goto C:\Users\"YOURWINDOWSUSERNAME"\AppData\Roaming\Code\User\snippets

and then drop the lua.json file from the README folder into it

this gives you easy suggestions on member functions and other syntax for the cheat api
